Community Outreach Initiatives
Horticulture Therapy is good for the heart, reduces stress, helps anxiety and depression, and gifts a great sense of accomplishment to the individual(s) who plant seeds, and nurture them from sowing to harvest. Our Certified Master Gardener is ready to serve you! Here is what we offer in our Growing To Heal Outreach Initiative:
Growing To Heal: Sowing Seeds of Hope
Twice each year—during the Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter seasons—Bethany’s Freedom Garden of Wellness hosts Community Workshops focused on raising awareness about food insecurity while empowering individuals and families to grow healthy, nourishing food in their own spaces. We bring the seeds; you bring the desire to grow and learn.
These complimentary workshops include all materials and provide engaging, hands-on learning experiences designed to inspire confidence in gardening and sustainable living. Participants will also enjoy the opportunity to connect and fellowship with other community members who share a passion for wellness, self-sufficiency, and eliminating food deserts within our communities. Be sure to visit our Events Page regularly for upcoming workshop dates and registration details.
As an extension of our Growing To Heal mission, our Master Gardener will also work directly with individuals, families, organizations, and community groups to design productive garden spaces tailored to your vision and goals. During your consultation, we will discuss your garden plans and review the overall budget for any additional materials needed.
Bethany’s Freedom Garden of Wellness will provide:
-
Seed-starting trays
-
Seed-starting soil
-
Eight (8) follow-up sessions for ongoing gardening guidance and support

Growing To Heal: The Power of Medicinal Herbs
This outreach initiative is designed to educate and empower the community through the healing benefits of medicinal herbs. For centuries, medicinal plants, flowers, and roots have been used to support holistic wellness and natural healing practices. Through this program, participants will learn how to safely and effectively incorporate medicinal herbs, flowers, and roots into their everyday wellness routines.
Our educational experiences include Tea Blending Workshops, Herbology Forums focused on commonly used medicinal herbs that can be grown in home containers, guidance on proper preparation methods, tincture-making demonstrations, and practical instruction for building your own home herbal wellness cabinet.
These interactive classes are designed to be both engaging and educational, providing participants with valuable hands-on learning experiences in a welcoming community environment. Each pre-registered participant will leave with practical knowledge, increased confidence in herbal wellness practices, and a take-home item or tool to support their continued wellness journey.
